CASA DA MEMÓRIA

In the historic district of São Filipe, you'll find a single-storey house with a large inner courtyard, built in 1820. Originally a dwelling, then a commercial establishment, a carpenter's workshop and finally a cinema, since 2001 the Casa da Memória has been a cultural space housing an exhibition retracing the island's history. The furniture and objects on display belong to Fogo families. In an adjoining room, a specialized library with books and documents on the volcano and Cape Verde, gives visitors the opportunity to deepen their knowledge.
