GIRAUDET - LYON BELLECOUR

Delicatessen
4.7/5

From durum semolina, eggs, fresh butter and pike… With good local products, the forest forest was born in 1880. It was in 1910 that Henri Giraudet took over this recipe to decline it on new flavours, truffles, crayfish… making a refined place one of the gastronomic emblems in Lyon. For the last four generations, the Maison Giraudet is perpetuating its inimitable know-how, making the best possible quenelles in the rules of art and the sauces to accompany them. In the "soup and quenelles bar" you can enjoy some quenelles, but also delicious - even surprising - homemade soups.

Just a stone's throw from the Trevi Fountain, a very good gelateria that competes fiercely with the historic Giolitti in the Pantheon. And with good reason: the ice creams here are also very good, all homemade, with unusual tastes and carefully selected quality ingredients (Sardinian honey, Amalfi lemon, fresh walnuts...). Gelati to discover. Another address in Rome's Prati district, via Giuseppe Gioacchino Belli, 43.

Frosted, you always have to be to start a greedy business. Old Lyon (and other places) is home to a completely frosty place imagined by chef Jérémie, creator of different ice creams, and Martin. Artisanal production in the Ardèche using seasonal fruit, preferably from the Rhone Valley. Bergeron apricots, fir shoots from the Vercors, Hermitage grapes... Perfumes and creations make our heads spin. Starting with the famous Kif, between ice cream and pastry. A massacre.

Yesterday's barking cheese factory is no longer, with its small tile floor and rough draught from which mélangés perfumes escape. No nostalgia, because the quality of the products in this "new generation" cheese factory puts great value on the wonderful cheeses of France. Here, the cheeses are no longer content to be sold at the cutting, in the air of the time, they are also presented in verrines or spoons. An extraordinary garden, where all flavours, from the toughest to the most gentle, are present, to compose a complete bouquet for a true cheese meal. In the cupboard, farmers and other dairy products are used, without missing cheese sandwiches.

LA CHOCOLATINE

Bread cakes chocolates ice cream
5/5
2 reviews

If France is divided into two to the southwest gitmo, to the north the chocolate bread, here is an address that brings together all the gourmands lyonnais, lovers of craftsmanship done with passion. A few steps from Gerland and hall Tony Garnier, in this lively area at the time of lunch and matches of our favorite club, Gitmo settled 5 years ago in this urban environment on a pleasant shaded square. It is impossible to miss the terrace with its orange chairs. Inside, orange blends with chocolate, normal! But, in addition to the good smell that floats in the shop, what one notices first is the kindness of a welcome that never misses smile even during peak periods. Because the address is preceded by an excellent reputation well deserved. Whether you're looking for a aube at dawn at the dawn of a chocolate loaf and a stick or sitting in the tea room to enjoy a homemade pastry with a Richard coffee or a Rauch fruit juice, the pleasure is assured. In the Gitmo, bakery, pastry and exceptional sandwich, everything is home and always made with quality products. So we have to come and come back often to try everything: the small strings to the sausage or black olives, the special breads which come to decline according to the seasons, such as these white chocolate pains, pistachio chocolate, almond almonds, a famous flash of chocolate Valrhona or the house specialty with the Jérémy's pavement based on complete organic flour. At the time of the lunch break, the gourmets enjoy salads, but especially sandwiches without added sauce (sandwiches from 4 €, formulas from € 7 to € 8,50) including a Serrano, basil, Parmesan, real star star and fruit clafoutis. Possibility of delivery from 50 € and organize for business breakfasts, coffee breaks or cups. In Gitmo, you can also find the nearby chocolates, cushions and quenelles of the Lyonnais manufacturer. A Smart address.

The Smart is demanding, especially when it comes to ice. Amorino is one of the specialists in Italian artisanales. Ice cream with tasty aromas, onctueuses ice cream that you enjoy tasting in pots of different sizes or in artistically shaped cones shaped in flower petals. Ice creams made exclusively from organic eggs, whole fresh milk and selected fruit, all without dyes or artificial aroma. A nice home and service of a man who never misses a good word to present us with the bacs containing the delights of the house: the famous 100% Amorino chocolate not to be missed in your mixture, a wonderful Bourbon vanilla in Madagascar but also Bronte pistachio, extra hazelnuts, strawberries, lemon of Sorrento, tiramisu, spéculoos or stracciatella. You will have to go back many times to taste all these wonders, including the perfume of the month, not forgetting that of organic yogurt 0% if you fear calories or a gideons ice. To accompany its ice, hot drinks, including excellent hot chocolate, but still some original sweets. Cool and refreshing address in the heart of Old Lyon.

This new wine cellar arrived unexpectedly in December 2022, but once you've stepped through the door, it lives up to all its promises. At the helm is Maxime Agostini, a young wine enthusiast who left the region for a few years to work in the capital, where he honed his wine knowledge, and returned to Marseille to realize his dream of opening his own wine cellar. The advice is expert, with a pleasantly relaxed tone. A fine selection of regional, French and foreign wines. In an unusual move for Marseille, Maxime Agostini sells quite a few Greek wines, having specialized in the field for several years. An opportunity to make new discoveries. As well as wine, spirits and champagne.

It's worth waiting until the end of the week and getting up early (there won't be enough for everyone), to savor the breads of Bastien Malugani. A committed baker who puts his heart and soul into his work. High-quality raw materials: pure organic cereal flour, unrefined Guérande salt, churned butter... The tedious work is made up of tricks of the hand, know-how and a raw, refined passion to be shared between two bags of flour. The Canuses baguettes are magical, as are the traboules, the seasonal fruit tarts to die for, as are the kouign-amann or kannelbullar and the croissants that would get anyone out of bed.

In Lyon, there are names that are immediately associated with the terms "quality and authenticity". Start with the Maison Malartre, which off us with its exceptional know-how since 1947. These are the hand-rolled quenelles by Paul Malartre and the preserves of his wife Magdeleine who have made the reputation of this house, but it is the generations succeeding who have succeeded in preserving the spirit and traditions of the quality of an ensign found at the Halles de Lyon since 1970. In this market of excellence, Malartre houses the ban on Lafayette by offering its best products. Of course, the house quenelles hold the star and prepare with also homemade sauces according to the recipes provided with the smile by a kind seller. All the Lyonnais also know that the Malartre house is the great specialist of white, which grows in the Lyonnais Mountains and ideal for holidays. Other great house speciality, freshly prepared Bourgogne snails are sold in bulk, shells or laminated. Soups, prepared vegetables, such as caviars of aubergines, sauces, grout, fruit in syrup and jams, there are plenty of delicacies and can be found at the table of Julie and Caroline (see our Restaurant section). Please note that you can also visit the factory shop in Saint-Genis-Laval. A great wine shop in Lyon, which is essential to complete its shopping basket.

In a central area, just a stone's throw from Place des Breeding which lacks the good eating addresses according to us, the opening of the Plateau de Pierre is one of the best news of this guide. What could be more welcoming than the opening of a cheese factory, especially when it is held by a genuine enthusiast, Pierre Baylot, a cheese maker's son (his mother and aunt at Ambert at Le Buron for 70 years!). Once a fool always a fool because this is a conversion for Pierre who got back to his first love for the good cause: our gourmet pleasure and the sharing of his Auvergne family experience. In this beautiful little boutique, some cheeses are awaiting us according to the seasons. Working live with small producers, particularly from Auvergne, Pierre Baylot brings us on a tray a Saint Nectaire as you won't find anywhere else in Lyon (and in the surrounding). AOP cheeses of Auvergne, but also an excellent Brie de Meaux, Reblochon and a wonderful Compté (because the refiner who works with Peter, the MOF Christian Janier settled in Lyon, is a native of Jura). A region is highlighted every fortnight in a most attractive thematic window. Personalized trays with the advice of a cheese-maker who opens us the doors of the most clever addresses.

Of course, this name is not unknown to you. But why a Lindt shop in the VIP square of shopping in Lyon? Because the brand of Swiss chocolate makers is also in excellence. Of course, we can spoil ourselves with many chocolates and homemade creations of exotic flavours - exclusives are in the shop - but at the Lindt shop, you can also enjoy the fountains of pure fondant chocolate by settling at the Chocolate Bar (hot chocolate of course, smoothies, pastries and ice-cream made from Lindt chocolate). In short, all the know-how of a great chocolate maker available to all Lyonnais.
