Initially sold in pharmacies, Byrrh was soon exported beyond the borders under the title of "tonic and hygienic wine". This aperitif is elaborated thanks to skilful dosages of various aromatic plants, giving it sweet and bitter flavours, then aged for two to three years in oak tuns, one of which is the largest oak vat in the world: 1,200,000 litres! The cellars can be visited and as soon as the weather is fine, sound and light, dramatised visits and guided tours will tell you the incredible story of the Violet brothers.

Created in 1928 between garrigues and olive groves, the cooperative is easy to get to, in every sense of the word: both geographically and in terms of the cost of the wines. IGP Cévennes, IGP Pays d'OC, AOP Duché d'Uzès, two of which won gold medals at the Vins de Nîmes 2023 competition: the winery brings together the best of the region. The wines are made in a cellar that combines the knowledge of the ancients with modern techniques to produce wines as diverse as the terroir.

A guided tour of this great cellar, which is a tribute to the work of men, is well worth the detour to discover its superb and grandiose tuns room, through which you can contemplate the immense two-hundred-year-old vats on either side. A must-see! The visit continues with a tasting of dry and sweet wines. By appointment, the Terres des Templiers wine merchant offers guided tours through the vineyards and tastings of great vintages. As for the welcome, it's impeccable, and the whole team is extremely friendly.

It is along the banks of the Rhône Canal that you will find this house of delights. In the heart of the historic center, the establishment has been selling and delivering fine tannic wines for three generations. Late Muscat, tradition, rosé, sparkling, in grape juice... Also, the House offers customers products from the region, perfect for bringing back culinary souvenirs in a sunny basket to show your family and friends the treasures of Frontignan.

Domaine Lalaurie is a fine family story spanning ten generations. Today, twin sisters Camille and Audrey combine their know-how and dynamism at the head of the estate. Driven by the same love of the land, they offer wines that combine authenticity and modernity, while respecting the traditions of their ancestors. In their storied cellar, open to visitors by appointment, the winemakers invite you to discover a wide range of grape varieties and flavors.

The estate produces excellent organic wines and also offers a 4-star campsite with unusual accommodations such as igloos, trailers and winegrower cabins. The friendly, family atmosphere is enhanced by the beauty of the surrounding nature, the varied facilities and the friendliness of the staff. Activities include river swimming and an evening "Wine & Cheese Tour" where the winemaker guides visitors through the vineyards, cellar and century-old winery on board the harvest trailer.

Created in 1895, the Maison Cazes has become the historical standard bearer of Roussillon viticulture. While remaining vigilant about the excellence of its wines produced with limited yields, it offers a wide range of bottles from Catalan terroirs covering 220 hectares, converted to organic and biodynamic agriculture over the last 20 years. During a visit, discover the warm and authentic tasting area and then plunge into the secrets of Roussillon winemaking, including a century-old tun room.

A few kilometers from Nissan-Lez-Ensérunes, Château la Vernède is an old beautiful Folie du Languedoc, a legacy of the golden age of wine merchants in the ^19th century. Dedicated to viticulture since antiquity, the estate is now preserved by the^5th generation of the Ribet family in the person of Jean-Marc Ribet. Under the vinification of Mr. Maurer, an Alsatian trained in Bordeaux, the AOC Coteaux-du-Languedoc vintages offer powerful and harmonious reds, revealing nuances of fruit, licorice and sweet spices.

Jean-François and Laurence present highly aromatic, fine, elegant wines, made in the pure tradition of the region's representative grape varieties. This is one of the few wineries that is within walking distance of Perpignan. It is close to the city, yet far from it. The diversity of the wines of this domain is explained by the variety of the soils: the vines are planted on 3 types of soil: limestone on Calce, black schist in Espira de l'Agly and rolled pebbles around the domain. Finally, the other strong point of this domain is the reception in gites.

In the middle of the olive trees, Sophie and Xavier Palatsi hold this vineyard with the precious advice of Jean Natoli. The estate, which extends over 60 hectares, 35 of which are vines, produces wines from sustainable agriculture. All have been Terra Vitis labelled since 2010 and benefit from the Pays d'Oc Hérault PGI protected geographical indication. Among the "specialities" of the house, the Jardin de Jules, a red wine; Jalade, a rosé; and the Cuvée Gatefer (red wines). Tastings and visits to the cellars are organised and guest rooms welcome you for one or more nights in the estate's bastide. Finally, a 250 m² room is available for receptions for up to 70 people. The Cave Arnaud de Villeneuve has gathered its oldest Rivesaltes vintages in the historic cellar in the centre of the village. In the cellar, which dates back to the beginning of the 19th century, you will discover the stock of barrels, but also the astonishing terrace on which certain wines are matured in glass containers. You will also find the very special atmosphere of a winery: the values of cooperation, solidarity, fairness, transparency, responsibility and trust.

Jean-Luc Viguier, winemaker, and his wife Catherine, oenologist, have combined their passion for wine and the land to launch the estate. Located on a former Templar property, it has been in the family for four generations. Its red soil gives birth to wines that are both authentic and fruity. Inspired, the family has been involved in wine tourism for a few years (wine walks, open-air farm...) and offers stays in perched cabins.

Founded in 1923, Vignobles Dom Brial now manages over 2,500 ha of vines, including the largest Muscat de Rivesaltes vineyard in the Roussillon region. The diversity of this terroir enables us to produce a wide range of cuvées, from sweet to dry wines. This winery has been rewarded for its quality policy, from the choice of grape variety right through to bottling. For example, Roca Fortis, a regional Côtes du Rhône Villages made from a plot selection dominated by Syrah, is an unfiltered cuvée aged for two years in oak barrels. Entering the lair of the Cabanel house is to discover the Carcassonne of the 19th century with, in its courtyard, the superb ironwork marquee designed in 1868 in the Eiffel style. A historical place not to be missed, the place has inherited the secrets of the famous Micheline, a recipe dating back to the 4th century, and of the Or-Kina, a plant-based aperitif. It also produces a pastis 100% Carcassonne and the famous "Crème de Menthe" and "Crème de Citron".

The thousand-year-old Gassac vineyard, near the abbey of Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert, is a jewel of the Languedoc region. Just 3 km from Aniane, this winery offers a tour of a Gallo-Roman cellar in the heart of the garrigue. Discover a wide selection of wines, including the renowned Mas de Daumas Gassac red and white, as well as Laurence's wine, a nectar of love and liqueur, and rosé frisant for aperitifs or desserts. In summer, the estate hosts winegrower walks and the "Jazz under the Stars" festival for magical moments.

In the heart of this charming village, surrounded by immense natural rock ramparts, the winery has been home to around a hundred passionate winegrowers since 1939. Combining cutting-edge techniques, traditional know-how, respect for the environment and appreciation of the terroir, this winery produces prestigious vintages: AOP Languedoc, AOP Pic-Saint-Loup and IGP Pays d'Oc, both organically grown and sustainable. Set on gently sloping hillsides, this 50-hectare estate with its maritime influences is a marvel of its kind! Until 1781, the sublime château was called Ancely. After that, it took the name of "Nerly" and finally became "la Négly" in 1807. Nowadays, Jean Paux-Rosset and his family take care of the beautiful development of this vineyard. His cellar will welcome you for an unforgettable tasting with a background of wine stories. The estate expanded in 2006 with the purchase of the neighbouring estate of La Boède and offers a range of sustainable wines.

The Foussat family has been established on the Malepère massif for two centuries. In 2009, the^5th generation rolled up their sleeves to extract the very best from their grapes. The 43-hectare estate, which includes Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Grenache, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, has returned to its roots. Promising vintages and light, mouth-watering wines: côtes-de-prouilhe (whites and rosés), AOP malepère (rosés and reds), pays d'oc (reds) and malbec.

This cellar has the most well-stocked champagne corner in the department. But if its reputation was made around bubbles, one should not forget that the cellarman is a finder of exceptional wines. As he likes to say, he is the specialist of "artisan winemakers" in particular. What the Petit Futé will remember are the memorable themed evenings on one Thursday a month with the winegrowers for private tastings, by invitation. And every other Thursday, tasting evenings with tapas around the barrels laid out on the sidewalk.

The Château de Corneilla was built in the 12th century by the Templars in the heart of Roussillon. Today, Philippe and William Jonquères d'Oriola (26th and 27th generation of winegrowers) produce wines in the 3 colours and VDN, 17 references in total. The vineyards and the olive orchard represent a surface of 100 ha of crops and extend over 5 appellations in Roussillon. The family also produces an organic "Extra Virgin" olive oil.

The miller does not sleep in Trouillas! Stéphane strives to produce a juice with the greatest respect for tradition while mixing in modernity. "A Burgundian way of working", as he himself says, that is to say, as close as possible to his vines, pampering them and pampering them. Hand-picking and the latest wine-making facilities are the expressions of this. Benoît and Cécile don't hesitate to go out of their way to find that rare beer, filling the 100 m² store with 500 references, to which they now add wines and spirits. In this pedestrian street, friendly and lively - known as "des prisons" - the "Cave au Vin Vivant" is a meeting place for fine people where you can find a nugget of wine, share a glass, chat with regulars, and enjoy a concert that livens up the evening. We appreciate the nice selection of organic, biodynamic and natural wines, the friendly and no-fuss atmosphere, the table that fills up with glasses and good things to nibble with friends at aperitif time. The Vassail-Planes family welcomes you to their farm in a convivial way, around a very copious snack, and served with local wines. Foies gras, whole, half-cooked, with figs, with two peppers, with truffles, duck rillettes, confit, magret, terrines and small local dishes. You will have plenty of time during the visit to the farm and the canning factory in the middle of cork and holm oaks to appreciate the daily work of this family.

Since 1976, the Herre and Berçot families have been winegrowers, harvesters and sellers of their own brand: the Cave Tambour. From the meeting between sea and mountain are born spectacular landscapes conquered by force on nature that the domain offers you to discover from the sea by catamaran, from the sky by helicopter and of course from land on foot, by buggy or 4x4. The estate also offers great services in wine tourism: winegrowers' agape, wine tasting initiations with a visit to the winery and theme evenings just to feel the wine bloom with music!

Without waiting for fashions or trends, Jean François cultivates his vines with respect for the earth with a conviction as deeply rooted in the family as a vine in the soil. Ploughing is done with two mules, driven by their traginer (mule driver in Catalan), weeding with 7 sheep and soon cows... The equation between an exceptional terroir and an outstanding winegrower produces delicate and sought-after wines. The yields are very low, the concentration strong and... it is the soul of the Côte Vermeille that you discover at the bottom of the glass!

The Maillol family have been established on their terroir and have been making banyuls since 1611. When you take the route des Mas, in the middle of its powerful slopes where the vines take root, and which forbid any mechanization of the work, you understand better these mountain sculptors that are the winegrowers of here! The cellar and the tasting cellar are still in their juice, which is what makes all the charm. The two brothers organise tasting workshops and offer visits of the vineyard. The list of winegrowers associated with the Caves du Roussillon is not very long, but it is above all very prestigious. Within this rigorous selection at domain prices, we find the tenors of the region, but also some lesser known domains. Not forgetting some Languedoc wines and a fine collection of spirits and sparkling wines. And at the Caves du Roussillon, the whole team always suggests you taste before making your choice. It's hard to imagine that vines grow in the middle of the city... And yet, they are still there because the city has sprouted around them, bypassing them to preserve them. In 2003, the Lacombe family took over the family property, which had been owned since 1813. Their meticulous work on the vines and on the grape varieties has allowed the production of a wine appreciated by all, whether it be through the Lucentum, Pont de Vassal, Las Pillas, Merlot l'Enchanteur or their Vone cuvée. Since 2020: possibility to rent the castle for receptions and other events.

"Bio-altitude wines! "This is how we could define the wines of Patrice and Aliette Bourg. Grown on a living land, more temperate than in the plains and which suffers less from drought, the juices of this nature-loving couple are simply atypical: fresh, balanced in acidity and above all incredibly delicious. Crazy expression of aromas and greediness are the words that come to us instinctively when tasting the nectars of Domaine Grain d'Orient. An undeniable success and a reputation that continues to grow!

Among the 250 or so producers of Blanquette de Limoux, Maison Guinot is an estate worth mentioning for its friendly, human-scale approach. Since 1875, blanquette has been produced by hand in a family-run business, with bottling on site and manual riddling of 30,000 bottles daily. During the 45-minute "Bulles et Lumière" tour, you'll discover the cellars and all the stages involved in making this sparkling wine. The tour is completed by a 3D video, and your visit ends appropriately with a tasting.

Our favorite sommelier (11th in the 2018 competition) takes us on new adventures: a cellar, a wine bar and a dining cellar. Julien selects the best wines from here and elsewhere, looks for the best quality/price ratio and above all... we love him for all the sound advice he gives. If you don't have the time to explore the vineyards of the Rhône Valley, make a detour to this wine fair where François Cas, a sommelier by trade and a knowledgeable wine merchant who provides fine local cuisine, officiates. He has nurtured his passion and experience with starred chefs in France and elsewhere as far away as Uruguay and Canada. You can trust him, he knows what he sells and knows the estates and most of the winegrowers whose bottles fill his shop. Spend a Friday late afternoon there, you can extend it with the Apéro-Comptoir.

Le Clos, Épisode cévenol, Free Style... Anyone staying in the Cèze valley will come across one of their productions (IGP Cévennes), which feature passionately crafted wines, a selection of natural wines, a prestige series and must-haves. Take a stroll through the 3 km vineyard to learn all about the estate. The wine bar and restaurant are open every evening in summer, and tapas evenings, wine and food pairings and concerts are regularly scheduled. An excellent, high-quality yet relaxed address.

Would you like to travel back in time to medieval times? In their shop full of character, Céline and Renaud make game and beer lovers happy. In total, they have nearly 350 references in both fields! In the shop, you will find beers of all nationalities, role-playing games and various accessories on the theme of the Middle Ages (medieval jewellery, drinking horns, olifants, clothes, mugs...). The duo also offers tasting evenings and game demonstrations. Finally, the curious can venture into the Antre de l'Echoppe, the shop's little brother, where it is possible to discover many beers and spirits.

Leave Montpellier and follow the Larzac foothills into the heart of the Hérault valley. A pleasant path leads to the terraced vineyards of Montpeyroux, a village-castle nestled in unspoilt garrigue. It's here that the renowned wines of Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert, Languedocs d'altitude, Terrasses-du-Larzac and Montpeyroux have been produced since 1950. These wines have long had the ambition of obtaining "cru communal" status, supported by the region's 21 cooperative wineries.

Pierre Jauffret comes from several generations of winegrowers who have been working since 1856. In 2000, Château Terre Forte resolutely turned towards the future by practicing biodynamic viticulture. The twenty-hectare estate has several terroirs, mainly clay-limestone with deep, rounded pebbles. We like the Rouge, which has a "good picolability index", and for a biodynamic wine, it's well worth the detour in terms of quality/price. Don't forget to allow time for tasting.

Michel Mas is known for his love of the land. A winemaker handed down from father to son for four generations, in 2006 he created his own 7-hectare estate at the foot of the family château. Viognier, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon make up his work. Respect for nature is another of the estate's hallmarks. Based on Organic Farming, the Organic Forestry method and Biodynamics, Michel Mas offers wines characterized by terroir aromas. Gourmet, elegant and rich in fruit, these are fine wines to discover!

We've been dreaming of a local beer with an Occitan name! Xavier Benoist has made it. A brewery engineer, he produces artisanal beers in Carcassonne, using French wheat, barley and hops. La Ciutat ("the city" in langue d'oc) comes in seven varieties: white, blonde, brown, Pils, amber, Ladies and Éphémère. Three local sodas round out the range, in the tradition of brewer-limonadiers, including the famous Carca-Cola (caffeine-free). Gift or event idea: you can choose your beer and have the label personalized!

At Josy and Luc's, it's the sun, the passion for the job and the love of the land that you discover at the bottom of a glass. The tasting cellar is at the top of the village and offers a breathtaking view of the bay! The Domaine Sant Jordi has a gîte and superb guest rooms and can host seminars or professional events. Finally, once the visit to the cellar is over, we advise you to come back to the seaside to taste the cuisine of La Table de Jordi. Le Futé fell in love with this couple of cheerful people with a big heart and lots of ideas!

The vine grows on the sand! Sand wines have been known and appreciated since the 14th century. This terroir produces an original wine with a subtle aroma in which the image of the sandy coast on which it was made is reflected, a barrier coastline that runs along the Gulf of Lion between Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer and Cap d'Agde. The siliceous sands and limestone that make up the soil and the marine micro-climate constitute a natural environment, unique in France.

Located on a ring road in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, this winery opened its doors in 2017. Inside, you'll find over 900 references of wines from small producers and cooperative cellars, grands crus, champagnes and a large section dedicated to spirits and beers. All budgets are catered for, and there's plenty of advice on what to buy if you're not a wine connoisseur. The cellar also hosts vernissages, tasting evenings and wine gatherings. This is the story of 3 wine-loving friends who dreamed of making a great nectar in Roussillon. The vineyard extends over 12 ha at the foot of the Tautavel cirque. Passion and know-how have been making the difference in the glass for about fifteen years. The Racine Carrée cuvées in white and red, aged between 8 and 12 months in barrels are simply magical. Emotion locked in a bottle and also emotion acclaimed by the specialized press! In the cellar, the adorable Ghislaine will make you taste the treasures of the domain and you will be conquered!

Domaine des Demoiselles is an old Catalan farmhouse overlooking the hills. Isabelle and Didier, a beautiful duo of passionate winemakers will talk to you about wine and love. They vinify the wines and take care of the work in the vineyard, and they both make one of the best bottles of the department according to connoisseurs. Elegant, fine and sometimes powerful, the Domaine's nectars leave no one indifferent as they are so singular. You can taste them in the old cellar with its thick stone walls and barrels lined up in the half-light. We fall in love with the Futé!

This vineyard, which has been in existence since 1897, today covers 23 hectares of land, mainly made up of Pliocene terraces: clay and sandy soils containing numerous quartz pebbles. Frédéric Belmas, who represents the^5th generation, cultivates 14 different grape varieties allowing for a variety of dry and sweet wines. The Mas Alart team is now involved in wine tourism and offers tours to help you discover the world of wine and its secrets in July and August. The Petit Futé had a big crush on this domain!
