REGIONAL NATURAL PARK OF THE CATALAN PYRENEES
Read moreIt would be a challenge not to present the Regional Natural Park of the Catalan Pyrenees to you, even in a succinct way, as its competences are so vast. It must be said that its territory extends over 130,000 hectares on a gradient of 300 to 3,000 metres in altitude and 60% of the surface area of the territory is classified: 7 natural reserves, 5 classified natural sites, 7 Natura 2000 sites, 2 UNESCO World Heritage sites (the Vauban citadels of Mont-Louis and Villefranche de Conflent), 3 swimming sites in warm natural waters (Dorres, Fontpédrouse and Llo), thermalism and wellness activities (Vernet les bains and Molitg les bains) as well as the mobility of the inhabitants of the 66 communes with the development of carpooling (Rezo Pouce) and of course the sustainability of our famous Yellow Train. With the help of the Region, the Department and Europe, the NRP is also committed, through its Discovery for Schools programmes, to the preservation and study of the fauna and flora of the Catalan Pyrenees, the study and development of aromatic and medicinal wild plants, the development of local seed production chains, but also to the preservation of the heritage built through the intergenerational knowledge transfer around dry stone workshops. The transmission of knowledge between our elders and young people is one of the NRP's missions to ensure that our territory and culture are preserved.

MONT SAINT-LOUP
Read moreFormed during a volcanic eruption 740 million years ago, the Mont Saint-Loup is located halfway between Agde and Cap d'Agde. From the top of its 113 meters of altitude, it offers a unique panorama. The "Sentier d'Emilie" which leads to the summit immerses the walker in a charming perfume of Mediterranean essences such as the scrubland of green oaks and almond trees. A pleasant walk far from the traffic, the view from the top is really worth the detour: cliffs of the Cap, black beach of the Grande Conque, rock of the Deux Frères, islet of Brescou...

THE THROATS OF THE MADMAN
Read moreThe narrowest gorges in the world, with passages less than 80 cm wide, frightened the population, who were convinced that they were inhabited by the bruixes (evil witches). The legends merge with the history, that of the Trabucayres, the highwaymen who raged in the region around 1840. This canyon of 1,700 m long and 200 m deep is so narrow in some places that the daylight does not reach the bottom, it is where the Simiots live, those hideous beings straight out of children's stories.
THE ESCORT AREA
Read moreA green walk, in a quiet and relaxing garrique, romantic to wish. With its dry stone towers, old time remains, its silent and yet so lively capitelles, the Domaine des Des is a site filled with stories and mysteries, full of charm. In the past, it contained gardens of ownership of the property, traces that are still seen during the walk.

THE BEACH OF THE NATURIST DISTRICT AND THE CHM OLTRA
Read moreOfficial authorization since June 10, 1973. On the part from the Marseillan buvet to the channel of the port of the naturist village. Frequent presence of the Cape d 'Agde Naturist Club.
The nudity is of course permitted and practiced at 100% on the long beach bordering the Naturist Quarter and Camping Oltra. All this beach is very busy in the summer and we have to arrive early if you want a place on the waterfront to enjoy the freshness of the sea. However, the water is often very cold at the Cape d 'Agde - between 16 ° C and 19 ° C in the summer - which discourages some from swimming. As for the authenticity of the naturism practiced, it reflects the visitation of Cape Town: very varied, fortunately, monitored by Crs. The part between the port entrance and the end of the Heliopolis building is relatively correct, but the CRS ensure the grain. The part facing Camping Oltra and especially frequented by camping residents is probably the best naturist atmosphere.

During your walk, you will surely have the pleasure to contemplate some wading birds in full nap or meal. You will also contemplate the original colours of the Doul, a characteristic linked to the fact that the pond is the deepest (about 3 metres) and the saltiest (70 grams of salt per litre) of the Narbonnaise.
