The Roque-Haute national nature reserve, covering more than 100 ha, is home to a rich flora and fauna. Rocky garrigues and holm oaks predominate. These Mediterranean biotopes justify their conservation with over 400 plant species, attracting botanists and scholars for over a century. They are also home to rare or endangered species of insects, reptiles and amphibians, threatened by coastal urbanization.
