FRANCIS SAN JUAN ARENA
Read moreLocated on the outskirts of the city centre, the bullring dates back to 1861. Since their last renovation in 2018, they can accommodate nearly 4,000 spectators. A major venue for bullfighting tradition, they are the scene of numerous Camargue races, bullfights and other entertainment such as the "toro piscine" during the summer months. All the great cocardiers have trodden this legendary track, the queen of free running, reputed to be very difficult by the razors. At the same time, the arenas are used as a backdrop for many other shows and concerts.

ADMINISTRATION OF CULTURESPACES ARES
Read moreThe Nîmes Arena is one of the city's most important cultural monuments. Built around 100 AD, they are considered the best-preserved amphitheatre of the Roman Empire. Unlike the Colosseum in Rome, the Nîmes Arena has been preserved and converted into a residential area, allowing visitors to explore its arena, stands, interior galleries and arcades. With a capacity of 24,000 spectators, the amphitheatre offers a unique experience for visitors. The galleries and staircases, known as "vomitories", ensure a smooth flow of visitors and prevent jostling. The Arènes de Nîmes is also home to an area dedicated to the life of gladiators and the history of the bull, as well as a gladiator's changing room. Visitors can choose between a self-guided tour with an audioguide or a guided tour in summer. A treasure hunt and a dramatized tour are also available.
