MILL TRACK
Read moreIn Chantelle, the Bouble penetrates into an increasingly narrows valley, which takes the profile of the gorge. The large loops of the river and the needs of the city above explain the establishment of many mills on the banks of the municipality (4250 m). There were flour mills, wineries, mailleries, tanneries, laundries, carderies. Their environment was occupied by cultivated spaces (gardens, vines, orchards) retained by layers of dry stones that are still clear under the brush. Since 1229, these mills have been in the number of thirteen, many of whom are advanced by Corrocher and Delaume, authors of the Les Vieux Mills de la Bouble (depleted edition) from which this article is drawn. By walking, you can find the remains of intallations or locks at the edge or bottom of the bed of the river.

At the bottom of this gallery is an elegant turret, lit by small twisted mouldings, which houses a hollow-core staircase.
