FRESCO JEAN JAURÈS
Read moreThe monumental work of Jérémy Amate, a young Parisian artist, was made with the black chalk and coal. The gaze of Jaurès spread over 30 m in length and 11 m high. Impressive. In the 100 years of the disappearance of Jean Jaurès, Hirson wanted to pay tribute to the French humanist. In front of the small school that bears the name of the member, this great memorial wall captures attention. A detonating fresco that does not pass unnoticed in the local landscape.

THE VICTOR HUGO FOUNTAIN
Read moreEven though the work may still be debated in the city - some will say that it swears in the landscape - the Victor Hugo fountain is still in place and animates Victor Hugo's place of its many jets of water, summer. Realized in 1990 by artist Patrick Saytour, also known for its decorative and utilitarian objects, the fountain was completely restored and consolidated in 2012. An astonishing contemporary creation, a kind of theatrical parody of art, to you to form your own opinion on this fountain that continues to divide!

ST. MAURITIUS PRIORY
Read moreWe see this building in the Royal Palace Park, between the tourist office and the Vénerie Museum. Founded by Saint-Louis between 1262 and 1264 in the center of the Royal Palace, the priory Saint-Maurice was intended to shelter the relics of Saint-Maurice and his martyrs of the Thébaine Legion. A community, composed of twelve canoines and a prior, served this place according to the rule of Saint Augustine. The cloister and church will be shaved shortly after 1789. From the monastic ensemble remains the eastern wing of the priory Saint-Maurice, redesigned until the nineteenth century, whose monks dormitory upstairs has been restored with a beautiful oak frame. On the lawn, on the right, there remains the remains of the chapel of the chapel, the entrance of which was near the logis of the prior.
MANSE HOUSE
Read moreThis small pavilion supplied the "great waters" of the château, in other words the fountains, waterfalls and fountains that lavishly adorned the gardens of Le Nôtre. In the great cascades of Chantilly, the water seemed to come from everywhere; it was said that an aquatic paradise had been created here! To get to its destination, the water from the pavilion went through a 2.2 km long canal. A great deal of work by the associations has enabled the Great Waters Machine to be put back into motion. Unique, it consists of a large wheel with a diameter of 7.80 m and six pumps.
SUB-PREFECTURE
Read moreYou will find it in a small dead end at the bottom of the main artery (rue de la République). In 1244, Alfonso of Portugal, Count of Boulogne and Clermont, and his wife Mathilde gave the Hôtel-Dieu which welcomed the poor and sick to the Order of the Trinitarians. Their mission was then to buy back prisoners. The convent had the right of seigneury on its district. The wealth of religious increased considerably thanks to donations. In addition to the cloister, the convent consisted of the Saint-André church (built around 1392), a cemetery, gardens and vineyards. The monks, for lack of means, quickly abolished the hospital. The Revolution drove out the Trinitarians and sold their property. The church was razed to the ground. Since 1800, the main building has housed the premises of the sub-prefecture. Since 1927, the complex of facades and turret has been listed as a Historic Monument.

THE DUNGEON AND THE VIC'S CASTLE
Read moreEnjoy the majestic facade of the castle of this castle, a former residence of the abbots of Saint-Médard, framed by two mass towers and surmounted by a th century pediment awarded to Visseaux. It opens onto a large terrace overlooking the charming French garden attributed to Le Nôtre. Its lounges would have welcomed guests of quality: Mazarin and the Cardinal of Bernis wrote his memoirs, or the Viscount de Reiset who was the benefactor. A large driveway bordered by yew leads to a colonnade also signed by Visseaux. The castle's dungeon dates back to the th century, while the residential part is after five centuries. 25 meters high, it is built on the basis of a rectangle, three angles of which are we of towers. The walls have a thickness of 2 metres at the base. On a special day in July or August, the site has a special atmosphere: Galantes festivals envelop the castle of music, dance and light for a poetic appointment.
