Brinay, in the Cher, is a small commune of about 500 inhabitants. Its main tourist attraction lies in the Saint-Aignan Church. This building, Romanesque church dating from the eleventh century, is dedicated to Saint Aignan, who was bishop of Orléans in the Ve century. It is especially famous for its frescoes dating from the xiith century. These paintings adorn the walls of his choir. They were rediscovered in 1911 by painter André Humbert. The beginning begins on the opening arc and represents an allegory of work and days. They continue on the walls, illustrating the New Testament. The church has been classified as a historic monument since 1972.But the municipality, which is on the road to the Vallée du Chère, is also a charming village of the Champagne Champagne. Rooted in a shared territory between forests, cereals and vineyards, it is a pleasant spot for green tourism or nature discovery. AOC Quincy vines extend to the village. The quincy aromas, which are seduced by its lively and fresh character to the refined bouquet and the fruity ones, can be enjoyed in the cellar of the old castle farm. On the floor of the cellar, in an exceptional setting, exhibitions are held throughout the year: painters, sculptors, potters and artisans. The village hostel offers a warm welcome in pleasantly decorated rooms. The Cher, tributary of the Loire, takes place in a succession of meanders for almost 11 kilometers that demarcate the northeastern border of Brinay. A plant ribbon accompanies this journey and gives it its wild character. Through underwater and vineyards, approximately 80 kilometers of communal roads are perfect for hiking or cycling.
