Bessais-le-Fromental is located 8 km from Bannegon towards Vernais. The commune has not always borne this name: indeed, its name has evolved over time. The village was known as Becchaico in 1080, from Vicus Becciacus in the 1411 th century to Beccay Le Fromental in.The village is a parish of the Archiprêtré de Charenton, the Châtellenie of Ainay and the seigneury of Guillaume de Bourbon in 1248. In 1569, Nicolas de Nicolay, in his general description of Bourbonnais, describes the city as "Bessais, parish in which are the noble houses and houses of the Bars, Du and Bernon and contains the number of 113 fires. " Bessais-le-Fromental is attached to Ascona and the department of Cher à la Revolution. One can admire a fluted cross with an inscription in the wall of the courtyard of the old school and the Romanesque church Saint-Martin, which was deeply altered by fire and religious wars. The pond of Ghoul is suitable for walks.
