The city was built in the th century by the princess Elisa Baciocchi, who was the niece of Napoleon I and the cousin of the reigning emperor Napoleon III. Since 1858, she built the first buildings, including a farm. Then there was the Louis XIII castle, the stables, a hospital that is now a school and town hall, at the pediment of which one can always see the weapons of the Empire.
