Bordering Ille-et-Vilaine, Lancieux is a pearl of the Costarmorican region, with its 11 kilometers of coastline and numerous sandy beaches, separated by rocky points and bordered by the GR 34. The coastline offers breathtaking views of Ile Agot, the magnificent Ebihens archipelago, the Frémur estuary and Saint-Briac, ideal for a stroll. For the record, the commune's name comes from the Breton Lann, meaning "hermitage", and from Sieu, a 6th-century monk from British Cornwall and disciple of Saint Brieuc. The oldest written reference to the village dates back to 1092.
