It is difficult to replace the Serret Museum to tell the story of Saint-Amarin and its canton. Located in the former cantonal court, and then military hospital, from the first fighting in 14-18, this place makes it possible to make a very well-designed historical retrospective. The name of Saint Amarin was first mentioned in 1135. But in the th century, the monk Amarinus founded a convent, in place of Doroangus, around which a small town was created. In the time of the Romans, the valley was a way of crossing the Vosges. With the opening of the St Gotthard Pass in the th century, the valley opened up to international trade. Canons will reside until their transfer to Showered in 1441, in a college built between 1050 and 1100. The wall wall, erected between 1240 and 1260, will leave the building out of the walls at the location of the current church. With the industrialisation of the valley in the th century, the inhabitants became peasant workers.
