The first mention of this village of 500 souls erected at the foot of the Grand Balloon, culminating in the Massif des Vosges, dates back to 1135. It is known as Geishuserweg - the road to Geishouse. Today, hikers and amateur photographers find this as one of the starting points of the many trails maintained by the Club Vosges. The nature all around is flourishing and it is not uncommon to cross a wild boar, a squirrel or even a lynx… Rest assured, Saint Sebastian, the patron of the archers to which the Église church is dedicated, watch on you, if not to draw arrows, you can always draw some wonderful photographs of your hikes in this corner of the canton of Saint-Amarin.
