Deux-Rivières is the meeting of the communes of Cravant and Accolay (2017). The toponym of this new commune evokes the rivers Yonne and Cure, whose confluence is located on the territory of the commune which also includes the waterway of the Canal du Nivernais. In the Middle Ages, Cravant was an important transit centre for goods, between the salt of Franche-Comté, the wines of Beaune and Burgundy, the draperies of Flanders, the wheat of the cereal plains, and the floating of wood. Part of the vineyards of the famous Irancy wine is located in the commune of Cravant. It is a French red wine of Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée from the vineyards of Burgundy made from Pinot Noir and Caesar grapes. This thousand-year-old village is home to a 14th century church, a belfry, a 14th century half-timbered wooden house and a watchtower. On the coast of Palotte, a panoramic point allows you to discover the valleys of the Yonne and the Cure. The history of Accolay remains closely marked by the culture of the vine, the floating of the woods of the Morvan on the Cure, and in the 20th century by the modern pottery factories of modern art whose fame is international. The charm of this typically Burgundian village is underlined by the presence of three wash houses but also by the small stone houses with Burgundy tiles. Finally, the nautical jousts have also contributed to the local notoriety of the village, with the training of the teams who gauge their dexterity all year round on the Nivernais canal.
