Illa de l'Aire, the island of air. This is a 34-hectare strip of land floating off the village of Punta Prima. Its highest point is 15 metres, excluding the 38-metre-high lighthouse. Built between 1857 and 1860, it is the highest lighthouse in Menorca. Not much vegetation here. The host here is an endemic Balearic lizard: the Podarcis lilfordi. It measures 15 cm, has a black body and a blue belly. You can get to the island by boat for a stroll, but the most interesting thing here is underwater: Illa de l'Aire is riddled with underwater caves teeming with aquatic life (barracudas).
