Bronte Park is a rural community of less than 30 people located in the Central Highlands, about 20 kilometers east of Derwent Bridge and 7 kilometers west of the geographic center of the island. In the 1940s, the Tasmanian Hydro Electric (now Hydro Tasmania) built housing for over 700 workers here. The village had a general store, utilities, a cinema, a dairy and a church. After the site was sold in 1991, many of the houses and buildings were demolished or rehabilitated. The ones you will find today in the vicinity welcome fishermen, kayakers and walkers.
