Launceston, Tasmania's second largest city with 86,000 inhabitants, is located in the Tamar Valley, at the confluence of the Tamar and Esk Rivers, 198 km north of Hobart and about 50 km southeast of Devonport. Nicknamed "the city of gardens", it is home to numerous green spaces such as City Park, Royal Park, Punchbowl Reserve, not forgetting the magnificent Caract Gorge Reserve, but also to colonial houses and buildings of very beautiful architecture, mainly grouped together in the city center (Albert Hall, Town Hall, Old Post Office, City Council....). Launceston was the third city founded in Australia, after Sydney and Hobart, in 1806.
