48 km west of Launceston, Deloraine is a picturesque town of restored Victorian houses surrounded by lush countryside. Deloraine's originality lies in its many craft and antique stores. At the end of November, the town holds a 4-day craft fair with over 200 vendors. The town also has an interesting museum to visit, the Folk Museum. For the record, Deloraine takes its name from the character William of Deloraine, mentioned several times in Sir Walter Scott's poem "The Layof the Last Minstrel", a medieval tale published in 1805.
