Mole Creek is a small community named after a tributary of the Mersey River, which rises at the foot of nearby Mount Parmeener. Artisanal tourism is part of the area's activities, including honey factories. Mole Creek is a gateway to several parks in the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site: Mole Creek Karst National Park, Devils Gullet State Reserve and Walls of Jerusalem National Park. Mole Creek Karst National Park is home to the Marakoopa Caves and King Salomons Caves.
