Apslawn is a hamlet of around twenty inhabitants located 25 kilometers north of Swansea and a little less on the east coast. The name comes from an estate established here by John Lyne around 1833, whose eldest son, William, was Premier of New South Wales from 1899 to 1901 (the year the Federation was born). The region is a wine-growing area stretching from the heights of the Tasman Hwy in the west to Moulting Lagoon (which connects with Great Oyster Bay) and the western part of Bicheno. Several vineyards are present. But it's Devil's Corner that really catches the eye, with its observation tower open to all.
