8 km from Orford, this small fishing port is the gateway to mountainous Maria Island: it's the departure point for the ferry to this splendid nature reserve (the entire island is a national park). Nestling at the head of Spring Bay, Triabunna is surrounded by beautiful beaches, coastal reserves and eucalyptus forests. The bay is also a favorite spot for fishing and sailing. This is a town rich in local history (it was originally founded as a base for the penal colony). Take time to visit the local producers, and sample the blue mussels and scallops.
