Ideally situated on the shores of Lake Prespa and beneath Mount Galičica, this village grew rapidly during the period of socialist Yugoslavia, becoming a tourist mecca. Although it declined from the 1980s onwards, to the point of losing its entire population (100 inhabitants in 1953), it remains very attractive. Of course, the former Hotel Europa remains in ruins. But two campsites, a health center and the former Jugoslavija Hotel (now Lakeview Hotel and Resort) have been revived. Here you can enjoy beautiful views of the lake and Mount Galičica, as well as sandy beaches and hiking trails to the mountains. Oteševo is located both in the protected area of Lake Prespa and in the lower part of the Galičica National Park. It also boasts a number of small historic sites, such as the remains of a Greek settlement at the former Hotel Europa, a monument to the Communist resistance, which held an important meeting here in 1943, and traces of various French and Bulgarian trenches from the First World War.
