This town, which has been overtaken by urbanization, is not located within the Galičica National Park, but it is a good starting point for exploring the neighboring villages of Velgošti/Велгошти and Ramne/Рамне, which are located within the protected area. Velgošti (3,100 inhabitants) lies around 2 km to the south. The village is home to several churches, including the hilltop monastery of St. Petka, founded in 1890. A winding 5 km road leads to Ramne (600 inhabitants). Situated at an altitude of 960 m, it boasts some fine stone houses. Ramne and Velgošti are linked by a signposted route that follows footpaths, carriageways and small roads. You'll come across a number of chapels and can continue on to Velestovo. Leskoec itself is home to the Church of the Ascension of Christ (Црква Вознесение Христово), also called St. Savior (Свети Спас). It dates from 1462 and preserves three beautiful original frescoes that belonged to the Passion cycle: the Last Supper, the washing of the feet and the communion of the apostles.
