From the SP 103, at the level of Craco Peschiera, a winding road rises in a landscape of creeks and bare hills to reach Craco, a ghost town of medieval origin. Its haughty silhouette dominated by a Norman tower is one of the most suggestive views of Basilicata. The village was abandoned in 1969 after a series of landslides, and its population settled a few kilometers away in Craco Peschiera. The jackdaws are now the only masters of the place and the access to Craco is forbidden, but the look of this site of great scenic beauty deserves a detour.
