Overlooking the lake of San Giuliano and the borders of the Apennines, the city owes its notoriety to the castle of Malconsiglio («Ill avisé»), built by the Norman people in the th century. It was in this castle that, in 1481, at the instigation of the Lord of the places, was instigated a rather foolhardy conspiracy against the King of Naples, culminating in the murder of all those who participated.
