Orune is located in a territory protected by the peaks of Cuccumache, Cuccureteti and Sant'Andria, and dominates the Marreri valley, in the center of Barbagia. The area surrounding the village is a succession of high granite plateaus and deep valleys, occupied by dense oak forests and bathed by springs. The village itself has nothing transcendent, few shops or animated life, but the panorama on the surrounding peaks is amazing. One comes to Orune to get lost, to find peace among the granite blocks or to visit the magnificent sacred fountain of Su Tempiesu and to bathe in the gorges on the way down.
