Tjøme is an island in the municipality of Færder. It has a year-round population of 5,000 and a summer population of 40,000, as many Norwegians have second homes here. Roald Dahl (author of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) spent his vacations there with his grandparents as a child, and continued the tradition with his own children. He talks about it in the chapter on Magic Island in his book I, Boy. Every day, they explored a different island, because Tjøme is all about the magic of one island after another, forming the2nd national marine park, Færder National Park. Numerous summer activities (via ferrata, boating, restaurants, museums...)www.visitvestfold.com
