Risør is one of the oldest towns in southern Norway. With its pretty white houses with black glazed tiles, it looks like a luxury marina. A large sea anchor stands as a statue on the quayside. Try to meet Vækteren, the old night watchman: an important character in the past because of the risk of fire in these towns built entirely of wood, he knows all the stories of sailors. The landscape of Risør is marked by three large fjords: Nordfjord, Sørfjorden and Sandnesfjord. In August, wooden boat regattas are held, to the delight of spectators.
