Between the peaks of the Sierra de Gredos and the Tietar River, the Vera Valley alternates between granite mountains, pastures, oak groves, terraced orchards, deep gorges and the Tietar Valley producing tobacco, corn, chili peppers, peanuts, raspberries... It was here that Charles V decided to retire to the peaceful monastery of Yuste. From La Vera we go to the Jerte Valley by a small road that leads to Cuacos de Yuste, a very pleasant stop. It is the streams and torrents of the Sierras de Gudos and Los Tormentos that form the Jerte. The Jerte valley is famous for its cherry blossoms and its gorges.
