At an altitude of about 500 metres, this tiny village is the oldest in the Palmar valley. It was founded by the Spanish conquerors, attracted by the fertility of its lands. When you go down into the El Palmar valley, with its long cultivated terraces, you will notice a small cone covered with grass and cut with deep breaches, which show the brown earth. This small volcano provides the picón, the volcanic earth with which the fields are covered to capture the night humidity. Towards the bottom of the valley, another cone can be seen whose crater is filled with water. It's a reservoir that feeds the banana plantations of Buenavista.
