Isla Verde belongs to the municipality of Carolina which borders the capital to the east. The district owes its name to the small eponymous islet of 2 km2 which is located 300 m from the coast. It is in some ways the seaside resort of San Juan. Isla Verde is also home to the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in its southern part. This can be a problem if you want to spend a few days in a quiet hotel in the area. The bay of Isla Verde is divided into three: Pine Grove beach, popular with surfers; El Alambique and the Balneario de Carolina, a beach with lifeguards.
