The small town, located west of San Juan, was founded in 1927 by Hernando de Cataño. More than anywhere else, it is a city that has preserved ancient Puerto Rican traditions. It is by far the smallest of Puerto Rico's 78 municipalities. Tourists go there mainly to visit the famous Casa Bacardi, nicknamed the "Cathedral of Rum" when it was built in 1958. Unless you go around the bay of San Juan by road, you can take a ferry that connects Old San Juan and Cataño every 30 minutes. The trip takes 5 minutes. We reach the Bacardi space after a nice half-hour walk
