Only the beaches of Luquillo are beautiful and worth a visit. The city center is not interesting, even if the nice malecón (embankment) built along the beach allows to make some walks. Luquillo is ideally located, 45 minutes by car from San Juan, about 20 minutes from the Yunque National Park, and from the port of Ceiba, which is the boarding point for Culebra and Vieques. Its proximity to San Juan makes group excursions very popular. The beaches of Luquillo, which stretch for 19 km, are lined with red sand and coconut trees. The ocean is a bit rough, which favors surfing, but not swimming.
