Outskirts of the capital Castries, Morne fortune was a a strategic spot during the many battles between French and English troops. That is why you find lots of remains of military buildings where Sir Arthur Lewis college established many years ago. The long twisty morne road from Castries pass the Governement house dating from 1895. It is not open for the public but a small museum can be visited on Tuesdays and Thursdays. There are 6 military sites at Morne Fortune dating from 1768 built by the French and then completed by the British. It is Saint Lucia National Trust who runs the tours in the area.
