Two of Martinique's most beautiful spots are to be found here. On the one hand, the Caravelle peninsula, at the end of which the ruins of Château Dubuc overlook an impressive mangrove swamp. On the other, La Trinité, on which the Caravelle peninsula depends. From this authentic, peaceful fishing village tucked away at the head of its bay, you can watch the waves breaking behind the coral reef. During the day, the village is alive with the bustle of the market and its lively shops, before gradually emptying out in the evening and plunging into a gentle torpor that's not unpleasant. It's an attractive place from which to explore the North Atlantic and the central region, for hiking, surfing or visiting the last remaining sugar factory. The locals are renowned for their hospitality, and you can make the most of it by renting a room in a local home.
