Mahibadhoo is the capital of Ari Atoll. The island has a town hall, a hospital, an education center, a police station, a bank, a football field, souvenir shops, etc. The major economic activities of the island are fishing, handicrafts, tourism, construction, carpentry and boat building. Mahibadhoo is a very built-up town with paved streets, reminiscent of a miniature version of Hulhumale. With 5 hotels and guest houses, no beach worthy of the name, the island does not lend itself to a prolonged stay. It can however be the object of an excursion if you stay on a neighbouring island-hotel.
