With its long sandy beach and good infrastructure, the seaside resort is very popular. The center keeps the memory of a past rich in history. The monastic presence in Loano began in the 12th century with the Benedictines who founded a first community in Borgo Castello, a village at the foot of the castle, which has preserved the central square lined with arcades, and where the monumental monastic complex of Monte Carmelo was later built, with its baroque campanile of the Oratorio dei Bianchi and the Clock Tower. Beautiful public monuments to visit including Palazzo Doria (City Hall), Palazzo del Comandante, and Palazzo Kursaal (Museum of the Sea).
