Banjul is one of the smallest capitals in the world, both in terms of area and population. With a population of about 40,000, the peninsula is only about 3 km². The city is very lively during the day around the market, but after 7pm you won't see many people. It is a real economic center, but not very interesting as a tourist. But if you pass by during your stay, stop in front of the Arch 22, symbol of the liberation of the country, and walk around the Albert Market, which is overflowing with all kinds of products. For a gourmet break, you'll have to go to Nelson Mandela Avenue, where you'll find some nice restaurants. You will find cash machines around the Albert Market.
