GAMBIA NATIONAL MUSEUM
Museum retracing the history and culture of the country and the sub-region through old documents and exhibitions.
Open since 1985, this museum traces the history and culture of the country and the sub-region through old documents and exhibitions on three floors. From the Stone Age to the present day, you'll learn all about The Gambia, if you're fluent in English, as the explanatory panels are in the language of Shakespeare. There are photos, musical instruments and archaeological remains on display. Unfortunately, the museum is a bit dusty, and it's a bit heartbreaking to see these exhibits so poorly preserved.
