Situated on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela from Vézelay, the town is a stopover for pilgrims at the Carthusian monastery of Bellary, a former monastery founded in 1209. Today, pilgrims are still welcome, and the town hall provides them with municipal accommodation. Between hills and valleys, the state-owned forest of Bellary offers a natural cradle to this village known for being the home of the four-leaf clover: the cultivation of this lucky charm is unique in France and is done on Castelneuvian lands. To this particularity is added a rich heritage including the circuit of the wash houses to be discovered in geocaching.
