55 km from Florence, in the eastern part of the Chianti region, this charming medieval village lies between the hills and the Arno valley. The historic micro-centre of Bucine, which corresponds to the ancient castle, occupies the top of a hill that rises on the left bank of the Ambra river. In the small square there is the ancient parish church of Sant'Apollinare. Among the civil buildings, the most important is the Palazzo Pretorio, now the Town Hall. Around it, the landscape of the Valdambra and its gentle valleys is dominated by the Galatrona tower, open from April to October. A small tourist office is available every day in piazza Sandro Pertini.
