Grimbergen is a city of 40 000 inhabitants, especially known for its abbey built by Saint Norbert de Xanten in 1128, and its high fermentation beer, once brewed by the monks of the abbey. Grimbergen is a pleasant city to discover classified monuments, its abbey and its basilica, but also the water mills and the cave of Lourdes. The city is especially known for its beer. The brewery can be visited. If the famous beer is produced in an industrial way, limited series are again conceived by monks of the abbey of Grimbergen, who reopened a micro-brewery after 200 years of stop in 2020.
