Don't look for the village centre on a map, it doesn't exist. Fernelmont is the result of the merger of ten villages in 1977 and owes its name to the castle-farm of Fernelmont, built in Noville-les-Bois. A rural commune, its villages are surrounded by fields and dotted with square farms. Some of them are an echo to gourmets: Bierwart for its snails, Marchovelette for its beer. Others bring back memories for history buffs: Forville for the burial mounds of Seron, Franc-Waret for its deadly tragedy in 1914. All will delight walkers, cyclists and hikers who love simple nature and rural landscapes.
