This peaceful commune, crossed by the meandering river Sambre, is dominated by the abbey of the Prémontrés order, founded in 1121 by Saint Norbert. Its choir stalls have long been renowned in Belgium and abroad. Alongside this historical site, other curiosities are on offer to the visitor: caves, chapels, potteries and the remains of a rich industrial past. In the summer, the Esperanzah! world music festival has been gracing the streets of the town since 2002 (around 40,000 festival-goers in the best years). In November, the Salon du Vin is another institution that has brought together many epicureans since the dawn of this century
