A small, quiet town of 9,000 souls at the confluence of the Meuse and the Bocq, Yvoir has the only Belgian tourist island. Going up the tributary, one discovers Purnode, known as the home of one of the oldest breweries in Wallonia. Further upstream, Spontin is another renowned village, occupied since the Gallo-Roman era. There are springs that have long been exploited as mineral waters. Spontin is also the seat of the Bocq railroad (tourist line Ciney-Bauche) and the geographical center of Wallonia. Overlooking the Meuse, the medieval castle of Poilvache faces its rival from Dinant, Crèvecœur
