"Premeaux" would come from "first waters" ... A climax in the region! It would be linked to the numerous springs discovered on the territory of the commune during the Gallo-Roman period. They contributed to the economic dynamism of the commune from 1927 until 1970 when a mineral water was bottled. As far as wine is concerned, there are no grands crus, but ten premiers crus, eight of which are clos: Clos-de-la-Maréchale, which takes its name from the wife of an officer of the Second Empire, Clos-des-Argillières... Don't miss the two 13th century churches which contain classified tombs.
