Located in the borough of La Haute-Saint-Charles, it is in fact one of the neighbourhoods of Quebec City, with which it merged in 2002. It was founded in 1946 and became a town the following year. Its main asset is Lake Saint-Charles. Covering an area of 3.6 km2, it is the largest body of water in the St. Charles River watershed and is also one of the city's most important sources of drinking water. Although the lake is closed to swimming and motorboats (rehabilitation project in progress), it is still very suitable for canoeing and kayaking.
