Listed as a national cultural monument in 2018(národní kulturní památky), this site is known for the Basilica of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary and the annual pilgrimage there. In 2015, Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz, John Paul II's secretary, celebrated Mass. A relic of John Paul II (blood belonging to him) is still located here. Although the Czechs are overwhelmingly atheist, there continues to be a fervor at the pilgrimage each year, and for travelers it is a rare opportunity to witness a unique religious practice in the country, which traditionally ends in a celebration with fireworks.
