The town lies between the two small mountain ranges Krušné (Ore Mountains) and České Střédohoří. It has long been famous for its thermal springs, the oldest in the Czech Republic, exploited since... the 12th century! They gave it its letters of nobility among the European bourgeoisie in the 19th and early 20th centuries. At that time, the city called "the living room of Europe" welcomed Chopin, Goethe, Beethoven, Wagner... We are far from it today!
